Fun Facts: Bison are the largest land mammals on
the North American continent. Despite
their enormous and clumsy appearance,
bison have amazing mobility, speed, and
agility, and are able to sprint at speeds
up to 30 mph. Their life expectancy is
20-25 years. At one time as many as 60
million bison roamed the plains. Their
young are born in the Spring, and are
able to follow their parents around in
